Vicki Massey - Faulkner's Pony Professor
Vicki teaches full time in the Independence Public School District; having taught special education students in that district for over 30 years. Vicki has been riding horses for almost twice that length of time, starting at the tender age of 2 when she got her first pony. As an adult, she spent over 10 years showing her two Arabian horses locally and Class A in English Pleasure, Hunter, Show Hack and Driving.
About 8 years ago, she combined her love of teaching and her love of horses and began working with the Girl Scout Horsemanship Program at Misty River Stables. She was asked by the owner of that stable if she had ever thought about teaching horseback riding lessons...and a new love (and second career) was born!!
Vicki specializes in working with the beginning rider; the young and the young at heart. She has also made a name for herself working with autistic and ADHD students, who especially benefit from the close bond that comes from working with and being accepted by a horse. Vicki is CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association) certified in both English and Western instruction. She also has a Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
